“خيانةٌ مكتوبة على أطراف الضمير” ، بقلم : قمر عبد الرحمن

خُنّاكِ يا غزّة…
حين طال بنا العمرُ ومررتِ خفيفةً كعطرٍ قديم،
حين أطفأنا مصابيحَنا
وكنتِ الوحيدةَ التي بقيتِ مضاءةً في ليلٍ بلا نوافذ.
خُنّاكِ
يومَ وقفتِ وحدكِ في وجه المغول،
وكنّا نحصي هزيمتنا
كما يُحصي النازحُ أسماء المدن التي لم يدخلها.
تركناكِ
بلا يدٍ تُصافح الريح،
وبلا سيفٍ يلمع في الظهيرة،
وبلا وردٍ يليقُ بإصابة القلب.

خُنّاكِ
في البكاء الذي لم نُجيده،
وفي الدعاء الذي ضاع منّا،
وفي الرثاء الذي كتبناه كي ننجو من المرآة.
نمنا في بيوتنا الهادئة،
وأنتِ تبيتين على رصيف السؤال،
عدنا من صفوفنا العالية،
وأبناؤكِ بلا مدرسةٍ
ولا صباح.

خُنّاكِ…
وما زلنا،
نسكرُ ضميرنا عند بائعٍ ماهرٍ بالنسيان،
نشتري راحتنا كمن يشتري ظلًّا،
ونرجع كما جئنا:
سالمين من الحقيقة،
وميتين من الداخل.

We have betrayed you, Gaza…
When our lives grew long and you passed lightly, like an old fragrance.
When we turned off our lamps,
and you were the only one still lit in a windowless night.

We betrayed you
the day you stood alone against the Mongols,
while we counted our defeats
as a displaced man counts the names of cities he never entered.

We left you
with no hand to greet the wind,
with no sword shining at noon,
with no rose worthy of a heart struck by pain.

We betrayed you
in the tears we failed to shed,
in the prayers that slipped away from us,
in the elegies we wrote only to survive the mirror.

We slept in our quiet homes,
while you spent the night on the pavement of unanswered questions.
We returned from our lofty lines,
and your children had no school,
no morning.

We betrayed you…
and we still do,
numbing our conscience at a vendor skilled in forgetting,
buying ease as one buys a shadow,
and returning as we came:
safe from truth,
dead on the inside.
